It might just be the instant coffee but I'm finding this to be quite interesting...    2010-08-01 13:09:40 ET

"As Germany's wild boar population has skyrocketed in recent years, so too has the number of animals contaminated by radioactivity left over from the Chernobyl nuclear meltdown. Government payments compensating hunters for lost income due to radioactive boar have quadrupled since 2007."

Quite interesting vector of radioactivity.

Also:

"The reason for the climbing payments, of course, has more to do with Germany's skyrocketing wild boar population than with an increase in radioactive contamination."

This brings up various visions of people walking around with broadswords at their sides, hacking up wild boars if and when attacked. This reminds me of a story I heard about giant rats living in the Fresh Kills landfill on Staten Island and how hunters were paid to kill them after the rats started eating the guard dogs. I never did verify that story so if anybody has any extra info...

Got a new netbook. A Samsung N150 Plus (N150-11). It came with Windows 7 Starter Edition.

Windows 7 Starter, where do I start?

I can't change my wallpaper, apparently I won't be able to play DVDs, can't change some power settings. This OS is even more limited that Ubuntu when running completely unconfigured on various assorted laptops.

I see now that Microsoft has again dropped the ball on things. Maybe this is why Ballmer's on the ousts? Since Gates left the whole gigantic beast has been playing at being a blinded Cyclops. I hope things will change soon.

I should install Ubuntu onto this hardware. I love the keyboard but the screen should be able to tilt further back. Oh, well. This is to type type type and not to look at pretty things (or porn) all day.

So there.

Agoraphobic hipsters
Spend their lives
In girls' jeans
And red light dark rooms
Playing rare records
On their mother's turn tables
Lamenting about
Their moth-eaten
Ironic t-shirts.
Fear of falling behind the post-cultural curve
Fear of the outside.
Plaid bedsheets
Grow cold
From lonely bodies.

 The Myth    2010-07-21 11:38:08 ET
The Myth.

Myth is what you make it. Reminiscing and waxing nostalgic about old times passed. Except there's no point in wishing you were back there. Hindsight might be 20/20 but the past is rose-tinted. Do something. Make today be the classic times. You can cry all you want about the supposed death of Beat culture, the death of Cool from the cancer of its cigs. But why not do your own thing? Why not give the people of the future something to look back on and say "I wish I was there. You know, back in the Good Old Days." Break out of the olde mythe to become it.

A Few Words before sleep    2010-07-15 19:35:20 ET
I'm sitting in a hotel. My legs are resting on the bed while my body sits comfortably on a lounge chair. I have a laptop on my lap. I am relaxing.

Out from the rear of the table in the room there is a cat5e cable. It's currently plugged into a wifi router whose MAC address is a clone of this laptop. The internet is being shared amongst quite a few laptops and smart phones that litter this room.

Liquor bottles are present here and there along with a few packs of cigarillos. This day is winding down to an end and soon sleep will mark the bardo of the day's passing.

The past will not be mourned. The future will not be celebrated. We will learn from the past and we will prepare for the future but we accept that we live in the present.

I write this as a placeholder in memory. Thoughts and experiences from my head will make an impression upon yours and nodes of relation will be created.

Live well, all of you. Enjoy those moments that could be enjoyed.

Ciao.

Ever stare a man down?

Ever stare a man down for an hour?

Ever stare a man down for an hour until you realized he was blind?

Ever stare a man down for an hour until you realized he was blind because he had glass eyes?

Ever stare a man down for an hour until you realized he was blind because he had glass eyes because he was a mannequin?

Ever got drunk at Macy's?

I shot a man once. Well, more like shot at a man once. Well, more like tried to shoot at a man once. Well, actually I made a gun shape using my fingers and pointed it at a man and said "Pow." Well, actually I said "Pow!" under my breath. And my hand wasn't pointed at the guy. It was in my pocket. Actually this might never have happened. I used to drink back in the day. I used to drink a lot. It was non-alcoholic beer though. Or I think it was beer. It did taste kinda funny. Wasn't my fridge anyways. I was raiding a cooler at a campsite. Not my campsite, no sirree. I'm a fucking scavenger! Back to the basics, man. Back to the basics...
