Timothy Good, ufo researcher, is being interviewed by George Noory on Coast to Coast AM right now... Well, actually it's a rerun, but anyyway, he sounds just like Larry Chester from Gabriel Knight 3. It's freaky.

Albany, NY (AP) 01/01/05 - Hourly wage earners in New York state have something to look forward to on New Year's Day.

January 1, the state's minimum wage starts the first of several increases that will boost the wage to $7.15 an hour by 2007.

Earlier this month, the state Legislature overrode Governor Pataki's veto to increase the minimum wage in steps from the current $5.15 cents to $6 on New Year's Day, $6.75 on January 1, 2006 and $7.15 on the first day of 2007.

While advocates say the wage increase will help New York's working poor, Pataki fears raising the minimum wage could eliminate some jobs and would put New York's employers at a disadvantage with competitors in neighboring states.

That means that RIGHT NOW THE MINIMUM WAGE IN NYC IS 6 BUCKS!

 High Weirdness    2005-01-02 22:09:25 ET
Okay, so I'm hopped up on meta, caffeine, and ephedra. And I'm listening to Art Bell, it's open-lines so wackiness is ensuing. And I'm reading "The Lurker at the Threshold" which, according to the cover, is written by H.P. Lovecraft but that's totally wrong. It's actually written by August Derleth who wrote the story after Lovecraft's death. Lovecraft supposedly left an outline of the story and August took it and finished it. August Derleth really comes off as the author in some points of the story. It's really quite glaring. There are cheesy lines like, and I'm paraphrasing here, "and soberly thought that the sentence was written with such horror and suspence that XXXX could almost hear the cymbals and thunder accompanying the sentence." That's cheesy writing. Plus the whole Elder Gods/Great Old Ones duality which does not exist anywhere in Lovecraft's writing. August Derleth saw them as 2 different races(is that the right word?) who represented god and evil. Or at least indifference and evil. I don't really like that. It's so-so. It takes away from the whole "man is just a microbe in the vastness of the universe" vibe of Lovecraft'sstories. The whole point of non-superiority or specialness of man. August tends to attach a lot more significance to mankind and..well, it doesn't really work with Lovectaftian elements. Hmm... I should point out that August Derleth is my favorite "Weird House" writer. By "Weird House" I mean weird stories that are based not on characters but on houses around which weird things occur. There's this one story with this professor who turned himself into an alligator or something like that. Sure it sounds like something out of Kolchak the Night Stalker but it's a good read.

Anyways, I've always wanted to point out something that I really liked in the comic book series "The Invisibles" ("liked" - past tense cause the series ended in April 2000): The idea of beings who exist not in space but in time. Or both. To describe it more accuratly think of a bucket filled with water. You stick your hand's fingers in the water. So if you consider the water to be a universe consisting of 2 spatial dimension then each one of your 5 fingers (you might not have 5 fingers on each hand but I'm talking about the national average) appears to the inhabitants of that 2d universe as separate circles each one seemingly independent. Now what if the water in the bucket didn't represent space but time? So the same object intersects time at different points. Existing, at the same time, at different points in time. Okay, so this does raise the question of "is there time outside of time?" but then you have to realize that the original example in which the water in the bucket represented space raised the question "is there space outside of space?" But you didn't ask that question when I presented that example to you, did you? Cause it's much easier for us to imagine that spaceexists outside of space (confusing? yes. Too much word repetition(sp?) tends to cause confusion. Anyway, I think that it's easier to imagine space existing outside of space is because our senses seem to be based on sensing spatial stuff than temporal stuff.)

Anyways, that's not the only temporal being thing that's shown in the Invisibles. The other temporal time being thing whatever that's in the Invisibles is.... Temporal Origamy. Imagine taking a white sheet of paper. And making a crane out of it. So you made a spatial object out of space. Well, now imagine if the sheet wasn't space but time. So your crane is a 3-temporal-dimensional object. Now imagine if that crane was a living being. Don't ask me how because then we'll reach the point of asking "what is life" and other questions like that. I'm not a philosopher. I don't hold many answers to questions. I know a few things and I have ideas about some things but no answers. So don't ask me. Uhm.. blah blah blah. Where was I? oh, yeah, so just imagine that the crane is a living being. But not made out of space but of time. And as spatial objects move through space (yes, yes, I know. "Movement" seems to require time. I haven't thought about thism uch. Like I said, I don't have many answers. Just questions, thoeires and ideas.) temporal objects move through time. The Invisibles, yes, the comic book series which I mentioned somewhere above, actually tries to show this happening. It's pretty cool. It was a totally new idea to me when I was reading the book. It made me want to buy a clock and stick another clock through it so I could claimthat I'm running on 2-d time. Yes, yes. Bad incomprehensible joke.

Necronomicon or Something Not Like It    2004-12-28 20:22:32 ET
I just saw a big pile of smoldering shit on tv. No, I wasn't watching the Yule Log channel. I just saw the movie "Necronomicon: Book of the Dead". It's one of those bad bad movies. Each segment gave the impression of the director of the segment having no will to make this movie. There was no sense of atmosphere. Horrible.
