Off the Hook went well tonight. Mark from the band Negativland dropped by as well as Billsf. Stuff was said then we went down to the Lower East Side, ate at some good and inexpensive Italian restaurant. I ordered lasagna and mash potatoes while remembering that the last time I ate at an Italian restaurant the 15 dollar lasagna ended up being 2x1x1 (or is it 1x2x1?) inches. Anyways, these servings were insanely big. The lasagna was 9.95 and the mash potatoes were 2.95. The 3 piece garlic bread was a bit expensive at around 2 or 3 bucks but it was good.
Then Emmanuel ordered a bottle of the house wine. When our check finally came it ended up being for 296 bucks. Stupid wine. I paid my small share and then so did everybody else. Then we went to alt.coffee where we discussed stuff. Then I took the train to the ferry, missed the ferry by one minute (fuckin' train!) and had to wait for an hour for the next ferry. Now it's 3:45 am and I'm going to finish writing this and pass out.

Mike is short for Michael, Ron is short for Ronald. So why isn't Christ short for Christian? Why Chris? Where did the whole "Chris" notion come about? Did Jesus appear in the sky one day and told his flock: "I've come back to you to correct you on my name. I am not Jesus Christ but Jesus Chris!" And then the word was spread. I mean, if you seriously think that the correct short form of "Christian" is "Chris" then you must be calling your friends Ronald and Michael: "Ro and Mi". And no, those aren't the leaders of the, now deceased, Heaven's Gate Cult.
So, from now on, all you "Christians" out there, and by that I mean the people who are named "Christian" and not the religion, don't drop the "t" when you shorten your names for casual purposes.
