update after first day riding American™ High-Speed Rail:
• going from the very northern end of san francisco to the very southern end of san francisco in literally 5 minutes is absolutely hilarious. this may not be the shinkansen, but i'll sure as shit take it. the people who move here from LA or texas and insist on still driving their dumbass cars or SUVs here now look even more stupid than they already did. this also makes it so BART taking 20 minutes to get to the airport from downtown is no longer the only option - you can take this fuckin thing to san bruno and catch an airport connector bus bus or go to millbrae and take BART or a bus one stop and either way you'll probably be at the damn airport in like 10-15 minutes instead of 20. have fun, tell a friend.
• my son and i both farted on the train on the way back home tonight. this resulted in one of the doors on the lead car we were on becoming stuck shut and the train's horn becoming stuck in its "honk" state perpetually for the rest of the trip back from san jose. when the train got back to SF we all got to run off the train platform back into the station while plugging our ears and feeling the joyous rapture of the intensely loud and stuck train horn vibrate everything in our bodies while watching the hilarity of everyone in the surrounding apartments and condos coming to their windows trying to figure out what the hell was going on.
10/10 highly recommended would ride these trains again, might just ride one again tomorrow. hopefully i'll have even more farts.
thanks for coming to my American™ High-Speed Rail Farty McLongHonk update.

original post:
decades and decades overdue, a̷m̷e̷r̷i̷c̷a̷ c̷a̷l̷i̷f̷o̷r̷n̷i̷a̷ the bay area (because the rest of this state and country is just that fucking retarded) finally has true high-speed rail starting this weekend.
now i can fart on the train while simultaneously traveling at speeds above 100mph. i'll report back on what this is like after the weekend.
