you, a normal well-adjusted person:

"i got some extra income, so i got myself an apple watch circa 2015-2021 cause it seems useful and i've kinda wanted one"

me, a crackpot designer with problems:

"i got a new client i'm meeting with next monday who supposedly has money and i allegedly have more covid apocalypse money coming sometime next week besides that so i just went on ebay and ordered the thing i've wanted for years from both florida and british columbia simultaneously: a used 6th generation apple ipod nano (from 2010-2012) and a new-in-box color-coordinated watch band for it. SHUT UP, YOU'RE STUPID."

Yeah, but still kinda cool. My wife has a shuffle she runs with- tiny, tactile buttons for operation by feel. Just the ticket. She keeps not updating itunes because she's afraid Apple will just drop support one day.

for whatever it's worth, apple "music" is actually the first itunes version that doesn't massively screw things up comparably to previous versions - and feels a lot more stable than previous versions well, albeit still imperfect. if apple ever does drop support, at least there will always be 3rd party apps that do the same thing and support every ipod ever.

at any rate, yeah, i've been a fan of the true original "apple watch" for years - had it on my list of "nice things to do for myself sometime" and finally just decided to say fuck it. found a pretty good deal on ebay, so at least i'm not significantly overspending on old tech. ...not that i wouldn't do that on something in the future, considering old apple stuff in general is just so cool.
