For some reason I'm all excited. I didn't drink enough soda or tea to bring this on so I can'tfigure out the cause of the excitement. So to deal with it I went on IRC and am now posting stupid comments on the channels where 90% of the people idle just for kicks.

"Jan 19 - NY NY -The Continental We're on at 11pm or so. 21+. We are probably doing 2 or 3 songs."
Or at least I think that it's free.

On the Phone Losers of America forums (http://cal.phonelosers.org ) I asked what people knew of the DSN network in the following thread:
http://cal.phonelosers.org/forum/dswitch-68216.htm
I recieved the following answer:
Defense Switched Network
Dial 150 for worldwide DSN ANAC
Abbreviated Dial
Program # 17(0-9) 2nd party #
Use 18 and #
Group speed dialing
Standard 19 2nd Party 2 digit code
Manual Completion 19 2P2DC Wait for Dial Tone, Dial Remaining digits
Cancel Features dial 149
Call Forward Do Not Disturb
Activate 140*
Deactivate 141*
Code Blue
110*
There are 3 general classes of phone a, c, and d. With a you have 99 access thus able to call on comercial lines. with c you can only call other dsn phones and with d you can only call a select group of numbers (112 for MPs etc)
If you want to play around with it you could easily SE some staff duty guy to transfer you call to another number. Here's a directory of numbers
http://www.disa.mil/gs/dsn/dsn_directory.html
Oh yeah the military uses it so maybe you don't want to mess around with it. I think all the military phreaks who have access should scan on DSN. They have some interesting error messages.
