Anomalism 12 -7 .8 ccw training today
2008-12-07 20:03:50 ET

Yesterday and today was spent in a training class for conceal/carry. Yesterday was the classroom portion and today was the shooting part. It was 15 degrees out and 6 inches of snow on the groud. Not at all ideal but everyone was game for it so we stood out on the range for 3 hours going through the various training exercizes until our toes were hurting rather badly. I was the only one shooting 45acp, everyone else had 9mm or smaller. I had the biggest gun also,not for egos sake but because I just don't have any compact handguns, (but now I have an excuse to get one). Everyone else had problems with thier guns jamming or failng to feed. My big clunky 45 worked flawlessly.(I wish I could say my shooting was flawless). I am now now certified as qualified to apply for a ccw liscense. So soon I will be armed and dangerous instead of just dangerous doesn't that make everyone feel so much safer?

Also everyone should go and wish Doctor Hexagon a happy birthday.

I find it kind of funny that it was only the 45acp that fired. I wonder if it's shitty design or just being so much smaller they are more susceptible to jamming when cold.

actually, yeah, I like knowing that responsible citizens are armed and carrying. *cough* Mumbai *cough*

RESPONSIBLE

:-D. Terrorists are rather irresponsible I would say.

Man, anomalous, where have ya been?!?!

in my state, you don't need a license to carry concealed weapons.
(that may or may not be a good thing)

awesome that you're getting that though. are you planning on carrying 24/7 now?

When i think of big hand guns I get a mental pictures of all the youtube videos i've seen of women shooting desert eagles and clocking themselves on the forehead after a shot.

Drake= I would not be surprised if that was part of it for some of them. others were bone dry as thow they were never used. One young woman had a brand new smith 9mm with only 50 rounds through it and it was doing incomplete cycling. I think for her she had a poor grip that allowed the gun to rock in her hand too much. The two 22s did the worst followed closly by the two 32s, the 38 worked ok but the old fella could not hit a barn from in it. Four of the guns were dry, no oil so I bet they were frosting up. I oil mine with gear oil so that may have been a factor. I think most of them were looking at upgrading thier defensive weapons, they all spent some time in the gun shop and the girl with the smith 9mm bought a Keltech before she left.
SubSonik= thanks!
Statistic= I been lurking some and working a lot. I always post more once I'm layed off work.
Jake= OH is in theory an open carry state but if you do it they will sight you for inducing panic. As to carrying 24/7 no, My work does not allow firearms and that is where I spend the most time. I'm sure it will be a part time thing. The main thing for me is that it be an "available" thing, and the adoption of the castle doctrine is a huge improvment in OH law.

Girlinvader= I've seen that one too, I kinda felt bad for her. On the other hand I have video of my petite 98lb 15 yr old niece blasting away with one of my 45s. Attitude and technique can make up many times for a lack of brute strength.
