Meat lovers

I try to buy local meat to cut carbon emissions from transport of livestock, but now I find that these local livestock are fed largely from imported corn from America and Soy from Paraguay etc., thus cancelling the supposed benefits. WTF? How amazingly depressing. I'd go vegetarian if I only didn't love BBQ so much ...or those vegan tofu meats didn't taste so awful. Pescetarian maybe?

we're doomed. we can't get our omega 3 fatty acids because our livestock don't fucking eat grass.

Well, I cook a badass salmon if I do say so myself! In all seriousness though, I'm seriouslly considering just not eating pork or beef and possibly (though less likely) chicken. What is a local eco warrior to do?

start his own farm!

Aha! A solution! You are wise beyond your years, your peers, and above your ears intruesiive.

OOOOH I LIKE WHAT YOU DID THERE. seriously, can we start up an SK farm? Shit bothers me so much, this food business.

2010-01-07 12:21:56 ET

Why not? We can start with growing potatoes in my apartment's oven. No, wait, they need sunlight, yeah? I killed the last dozen herb plants I bought. As far as livestock, I don't think a kitchen coop in the baby's room is a safe idea, but I can warm the eggs under the hot water heater right?

2010-01-07 12:23:45 ET

Can't warm the eggs if there's no chicken coop. Unless...

2010-01-07 12:24:48 ET

I'm not about to hide chicken eggs in my ass, if that is what you're suggesting. They'd just keep falling down my pant legs.

2010-01-07 12:29:44 ET

Would we be able to genetically engineer YOU to lay eggs?

Somehow I doubt I contain the necesary plumbing.
