Sometimes I kinda need to remind myself that I'm alive and that the time passing is kinda not getting used as well as I'd like it to. When I was a kid, I was weirdly active but didn't realize it at the time. I learned about so many things and so many subcultures (heh, should I spell it "subkultures" on this site?) and, looking back, it's kinda weird how many things and events happened in bursts during short periods of time. Nowadays, I do get the same bursts but they're more limited. If I end up doing stuff during a weekend, the weekend seems to last for a few weeks since the amount of stuff experienced stretches out the time to make it seem much longer. I don't even have to leave the house since I've got stuff I can read and work on here.

The weather outside seems freaking great at the moment though.

I took the week off. It's not been bad. Would love to travel again but prices are wacky due to politics and idiocy. It's not likely to snow anytime soon again so I should probably take a Friday evening bus trip to Montreal. Or DC. I need to go back to the Spy Museum there. Haven't been back there since they've switched locations. I think last time I went there was with a good friend who, at the time, was still alive. Time passes. Places change. When we don't see the types of places and things we want to exist, we create our own.

Fuck, writing is fun. I should start a zine.

I've got paper and a couple of toner cartridges. How the fuck does one typeset or whatever it's called? Lainzine is nice. I mean it's full color and I can't do full color but still.

Are these rambling thoughts? Probably.

I'm running out of Club Mate. The refills aren't cheap. I'm cheap. I should save money.

I should check Eventbrite to see if there are any events occurring in any of the consulates or UN missions. That's always fun. I noticed that the Argentinian Consulate has some Argentinian artist exhibit occurring. I need to be more social again and go to these new events. New York's a layer cake of subcultures and you need to keep switching layers otherwise you get stuck on certain flavors. The flavors aren't bad but you miss out on a lot. It's like living in history. You don't want to read about good things that you were around for after they've ended. You read about something cool and then you're like "oh shit, I was alive for that! I didn't know about it and now it's gone." Let us live the good times directly and not via hindsight. We'll all die at some point so we should help each other enjoy life since it can end in the next second or in a thousand years. Plan for the now and plan for the forever.

Rambling again, eh?

Who cares.

I should fuck around with my interests more. Because they're interesting.

I'd also like to go to the Spy Museum, I've still never been. Not sure if they do it every year but I know at least once they had an event for the anniversary of the Berlin Wall opening up. A bunch of people who own Eastern Bloc cars (Trabants/Wartburgs/etc) met there and they drove them through a big "wall" of cardboard boxes. Also we apparently have a Spy Museum here in the city but it's expensive and not that great.

Yeah, it's annual. They call it the Parade of Trabants and the last one was on November 8th. We should go this year.

I went to the nyc one, Spyscape, last week. It's much better than it was last time I went but that was like a month after it opened and nothing was working and they had no exhibits. Now most things work and it's not bad but, yeah, it's $44 to get in. And no discounts for nyc residents.

However they do have a spy bookshop inside that's free and has random spy books including used ones. Apparently Michael Caine wrote one which is funny since he played a pulp writer in the movie "Pulp". I bought a book there called "Darknet: A Beginner's Guide to Staying Anonymous Online" by Lance Henderson. It's got a 2012 copyright date so you know it's definitely up to date. It's got that old school Loompanics feel.
