2004-09-15 19:04:11 ET Oh, one more thing. I'm reading "The Big Sleep" by Raymond Chandler. That's one of those "hard-boiled" private detective novels. The dick in this one is named "Phillip Marlowe". I've read only one other Phillip Marlowe book (also by Chandler) called "The Little Sister". That one seemed to be more comedy than anything with a joke getting tossed around every 5 lines. Anyways, for those of you who don't know, the movie the Big Lebowski is very loosely based on the book "The Big Sleep". But there are very noticeable similarities. At the moment I'm at the part which, if I was talking about the movie, would be the "I'm a brother shamus!" - "An Irish monk?" part. The "She's my fucking lady friend!" part. "I'm just helping her concieve, man!" It's really funny when you sit down to read it and everything starts to remind you of the Dude. Except for the obvious lack of bowling. |
