I'm picking up something weid on shortwave. It's in the 8.5 megahertz range. 8.5000 actually. I caught it on 8.5002 then moved around a bit.

It's a freaky, weird signal. The strength of the signal varies which makes me think that it's originating from an antenna that rotates.

The signal itself are weird beeps and crunchy distortion which is followed by bits of what sounds like carrier tones. As if it's data being sent. The rhythm of this set is very eerie. It is the rhythms of a steady pace of footsteps. Maybe a tiny bit faster than 2 beats per second.

Now the rhythm just broke. The crunchy distorted beep increased in volume. Burst of carrier followed. Then some normal beats. The static's getting louder. Now the clear beep comes in every once in a while but it's now mostly all crunchy distorted beep. Like a beep distorted by vibration.

This is obviously originating from an electronic device. The short bursts of carrier signal and, as just happened, a pattern of fast beats, seems to indicate a device with the ability to communicate with other devices but not necessarily a communications device. The carrier signal is short which means that the device, whatever it is, only needs to communcate with something else for a second or two. That means that there's not a lot of data being sent. I'll stop listening to it now and i'll move on.

How long did you observe the signal for? If it only lasted about 10 or 15 minutes, it might have been a satellite. Usually you can determine the rate at which a satellite is spinning by how often the signal fades in and out. I forget all the techinal terms but that's basically how it works.

Nah, wasn't a satellite. It was too constant in some respects. But I wouldn't rule it out cause..well cause I don't know how a satellite transmission would sound like. Also, another reason I don't think it was a sateliite is cause of the time between the carriersignals and the factthat the carrier signal only appeared for short periods of time while all the other sounds remained constant.
