Teacher: you were all suppossed to read one of these books over the summer.
me: i heard you only had to do that if you were enrolled in this school last year
Teacher: no, you shouldve done it over the summer.
me: but how would i have known to read a book if i wasnt at this school, i wasnt enrolled in ANY high school over the summer, so no one wouldve informed me to read a book.
teacher: well, i'll give you the book tomorrow, have it read by monday (today is wednesday) and be prepared for a test and an essay on the book.
what!? if i wasnt at school last year that means that before "summer vacation" no one told me to read anything, i didnt even enroll until 2 days before the semester began.

If your child is taking Language Arts this Spring: Students who will be in Language Arts in the Spring and were enrolled at Peachtree Ridge High School prior to August 20 should be prepared to take an assessment on their Summer Reading books during the first week after the Winter Break. Students should review their notes from their reading and/or re-read their books to be prepared for this writing test. The assessment will count as a major test grade in the Language Arts courses. Students may read an additional book for an extra credit opportunity. If there are questions, please feel free to email the Language Arts Department Chair, Sarah Skinner at sarah_skinner@gwinnett.k12.ga.us
